If first impressions are anything to go by then this newly released monitor is a first class winner.

HDMI and Display Port:

The monitor is connected to my Nvidia 470 SOC Video graphics Card with a DVI-I to HDMI cable. The monitor provides both a HDMI socket and Display Port with a Display Port cable in the package. A variety of settings can be achieved depending on which cable is used and offers a range of 2D, 3D, and HD refresh rates and audio options. The HDMI offers good quality 3D at 60Hz, while the Display Port offers a higher level of 3D at 120Hz.

In The Box:

Monitor – 27 in 120Hz 3D Widescreen HD LED Monitor

– 3D Glasses with Battery (Non Rechargeable)

– Display Port Cable,

– 14 Volt Power Supply,

– Cable tie and Mounting bracket

– Cleaning Cloth – Use a water moisten cloth only. Do not use strong detergents or chemical cleaners.

Fast Action 2 ms, 120 Hz:

Fast moving 3D action is displayed well, even at 60Hz, the best I have seen to date with this 2 ms and 120 Hz capable monitor. The image results are equivalent to what you would expect from a Plasma Screen.

Glossy Black Screen:

On purchase I did not know that the monitor had a glossy black screen, and was a bit put off when I opened the box, but in my monitor location it works well and has easily won my praise after only a few days of operation. Would I consider getting a glossy black screen again? Yes, but my first preference would always be for the “matte finish,”

Blacker Blacks:

This is the first time I have experienced this depth of black. I have read about blacks, heard about blacks, and now I have finally experienced them and I am impressed. The blacker blacks allow for a much richer viewing experience on every frame.

3D Active Glasses:

The 3D glasses battery should last about 6 to 12 months maybe even longer depending on use – The supplied battery is non rechargeable, but easily purchased and installed for just a few dollars. You can buy extra glasses but the 27 inch design best lends itself to that of a single user. An additional pair cost about $120.00 AUD/ USD and varies depending on where you source them from.

Stand Footprint:

The stand has a small but practical surface area, with “Eight” small white backlit control buttons embedded into a glossy black face plate on the stand.

Control Buttons:

Eight control buttons offer a vast range of auto and/or customized options. A dedicated 3D Button, Supports 2D, HD, 3D Active, Sequential, Side by Side, Top and Bottom formats to name a few.

Other Features:

Energy efficient, super slim design, and aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Total Cost – Glasses Included:

Recommended retail is $599.00 USD/AUD if you can find one. These have only been on the market for a few months and have almost completely sold out. Many online stores claim that they have 2,3,5 or more in stock, however when you contact them to order as I did with 5 different stores, I quickly found that they did not have any and would not be getting them for some time.

Pros:

Stylish, technically advanced, supports a broad range of most common 3D modes. With the monitor set to run at 60Hz via the HDMI cable the PC Graphics card runs approximately 15 degrees cooler than with the Samsung RZ2233 counterpart. Glasses supplied with this monitor will work with the Samsung RZ2233 Nvidia setup. The good news is that the 3D format will work with either an ATI Radeon or Nvidia video card.

Cons:

Gloss screen can leave finger print marks, as does the gloss black face plate control pad. Positioning of the monitor is critical to avoid reflections in the gloss screen. I have been unable to get my early version “Nvidia 3D glasses” to work with this monitor. The stand has a small footprint and could present a problem if not positioned carefully.

Conclusion:

The best PC Monitor I have come across to date. This 2D, HD, or 3D monitor far out performs anything I have come across with blacker blacks, and energy efficiency that puts little stress on the PC computer hardware. The monitor provides crystal clear TV by way of a simple inexpensive “USB Video Stick” when connected via the USB computer port. Fast action is displayed well on this 2 ms 120Hz monitor. Plays Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D at a very high level.

My Score 4.5 out of 5 Stars – Outstanding a first class product at a great price. Comparison LG D2770P 2D 3D HD Monitor with the Samsung S27A750 2D 3D HD Monitor:

I had hoped to find a working model of the LG D2770P 2D 3D HD for a comparison with this Samsung counterpart. I contacted LG twice without any luck. I am more than happy to review the LG monitor if I can find one that is operating in 3D. Until then I will let you draw your own conclusions.
