Cyberpunk 2077 Preorder Details: Bonuses, Collectibles, And Prerelease DealSeptember 23, 2020
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nvidia’s RTX 3000-series graphics cards–we’re getting a trio of huge gaming tech this holiday season, which makes it the perfect time to release a graphics showcase like Cyberpunk 2077. The long-awaited game from CD Projekt Red (creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), Cyberpunk shifts the developer’s focus from the past to the future, but the choice-driven storytelling, strong characters, and evocative world-building CDPR is known for all look to be intact, and it’s looking to be an early showcase for next-gen hardware. It has some serious star power behind it, too; Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, Grimes and Run the Jewels are contributing songs to the soundtrack, and the studio behind Promare is making a Cyberpunk 2077 anime with Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka doing the score.
It’s shaping up to be a huge release, and after a series of delays, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently set to release November 19, so it’ll just make the cut-off for 2020. If you’re looking to preorder the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, we’ve got you covered with all the latest info on preorder bonuses, its Collector’s edition, and more.
CD Projekt Red pulled back the curtain even more on Cyberpunk 2077 last week with its Night City Wire livestream, which debuted 25 minutes of all-new gameplay. The stream gave an in-depth look at the game’s world and a gameplay mechanic called Braindance. The second episode of Night City Wire delved into the different backstories you can give your characters and how they’ll affect your playthrough. The third episode of Night City Wire showed off some of the groups you’ll be facing off against and revealed the game’s minimum and recommended system requirements on PC.
We recently got the chance to go hands-on with Cyberpunk 2077 and play some of the game’s early missions and side quests. Be sure to check out senior editor Tamoor Hussain’s early impressions of Cyberpunk 2077 after spending four hours in Night City.
The game is based on Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020, so the 2020 release date makes total sense. However, the game itself is set 57 years later in the futuristic android-filled world of Night City, where android augmentations are an integral part of people’s lives. There looks to be plenty of deep customization and lots of options when it comes to first-person combat. The team has confirmed Cyberpunk 2020 will not have microtransactions, will be DRM-free on PC, and have DLC similar in size to Wild Hunt.
