By iwano@_84

The UAE’s burgeoning freelancers market is poised to register a strong growth as talented, skilled and up-skilled labour is available in almost every sector.

The freelance economy in the UAE has been on the rise in recent years much in line with the global trend. A latest Algorithm Research report highlighted there are more freelancers in the field of design, media, architecture, mobile phones, websites, and software development.
The online marketplace for freelance services also confirm similar tendencies in the UAE freelancer market. While men represent 62 per cent and women account for 38 per cent of the UAE’s freelance workforce, majority of them are in the age bracket between 21 years to 30 years.

“Freelancers face major challenges such as administrative tasks, client acquisition and late payment issues. Post -covid-19 with companies transitioning from the traditional approach to work and adapting to the new normal, we believe that UAE’s

The Lexus Design Award is on a mission to make the world better. Here’s how you can participate!

By iwano@_84

I’ve noticed something rather interesting over the past couple of years. The purpose of a design, any design, is to see itself evolve in a way that benefits users as well as the designer that had the idea in the first place. A well-designed product isn’t something that can exist in isolation with a ribbon pinned to it… yet most award programs do just that. They look at products, identify a few of them which look promising, give them a certificate or trophy, and move on to the next product… and the process repeats itself year after year. Most award programs don’t incubate great ideas into wonderful products… they just identify them and put them on a website for others to see, and that’s something I’ve come to identify with a lot of awards, but not the Lexus Design Award.

Imagine having great designers gather around your idea and nourish

Tesla’s new battery design is ‘brilliant,’ says a top researcher

By iwano@_84

  • Tesla’s new 4680 battery cell is an “A-plus” design according to Shirley Meng, a scientist from the University of California San Diego.
  • But she added that Tesla can’t achieve is ambitious goals by itself — to get to ten terawatts of worldwide capacity, other players will be required.
  • “The world needs so many batteries,” she said.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Tesla’s Battery Day this week brought big news to the metallurgy and chemical-engineering worlds: the company had developed a new cylindrical battery cell, dubbed the “4680,” that’s much larger than the 2170 cells it’s currently using.

While the 4680 cells remain at the prototyping stage and shouldn’t enter mass production until 2022, CEO Elon Musk and his engineers are confident enough in the new form factor to start rethinking the design of Tesla’s cars, with the 4680 cells becoming a structural feature.

Michigan chooses simple design for absentee ballots

By iwano@_84

DETROIT – For this election a record number of Michigan residents have already started the process of filling out their absentee ballots.

The whole process can be a bit overwhelming to some first time absentee voters. Thankfully, the state has left no stone unturned to create a simple design to help everyone.

While voting by mail might seem easy, that is often not the case. In Michigan’s last primary more than 10,000 ballots were invalid.

That happened because clerks couldn’t verify signatures or they came in late. In November millions are expected to vote by mail and that’s where the Center for Civic Design comes in.

On its website the Maryland based group says civic design is about making every meeting between a citizen and the government effective and pleasant.

“It’s not any harder to write a good letter than a not so great letter. It’s not any harder to
