Final Fantasy XVI teaser website to launch in late October

By iwano@_84

Square Enix will launch a teaser website for Final Fantasy XVI in late October with information on the game’s world and characters, producer Naoki Yoshida said during the “Yoshi-P Sanpo” program at Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online.

Yoshida also commented on the game’s announcement trailer. He said, “I didn’t want the trailer to be just a rendered cutscene and bam! logo!… I wanted to use resources that were moving in-game, in real-time, but the timing wasn’t the best for it. We haven’t tuned it or optimized it yet, so it was a lot of work to be done. But if we released a pre-rendered trailer, they would say, ‘Alright, see you in 2035!’ or something. I’ve seen those kind of comments from America. So we really wanted to show something that was actually in-game. We haven’t shown the highlights of the game in this trailer, so that will come later

Lawyers eye neo-Nazi website founder’s assets for $14M award :: WRAL.com

By iwano@_84

Attorneys for a Montana real estate agent are eyeing the assets of a neo-Nazi website operator to collect a $14 million court judgment against the man for an anti-Semitic online “troll storm” that he orchestrated against the Jewish woman and her family, court filings show.

More than a year has passed since a federal judge in Montana entered a default judgment against Andrew Anglin, the Daily Stormer’s founder and publisher. Plaintiffs’ lawyers say the Ohio native has failed to pay any of the monetary award to Tanya Gersh.

Gersh’s attorneys from the Southern Poverty Law Center say they intend to identify any of Anglin’s assets that could be used to satisfy the judgment. Trying to seize Anglin’s assets will be “time-consuming and extremely complex” given his lack of cooperation and history of holding assets in cryptocurrency rather than more traditional forms, law center lawyers wrote

Dispatch staff learns new systems to power new website

By iwano@_84

The Columbus Dispatch

We were tested in the past week.

The newsroom staff learned a new computer system for the third time in five years. That came a few weeks after we moved into a new email system. And then a new website.

At the same time staff members were doing hours of training for all of the new systems, they also were doing their best to keep their eyes on the ball by covering their assignments to bring you the news.

No one is complaining too loudly. Change is a fact of life in virtually every business, but even in a business as full of change as this one, it’s rare that so many changes come all at once. I commend these dedicated journalists for their diligence and dedication to working through challenges to bring you the news.

Thank you for your patience as we move quickly to master

Why is MO health department under-reporting?

By iwano@_84

CLOSE

COVID-19 widespread testing is crucial to fighting the pandemic, but is there enough testing? The answer is in the positivity rates.

USA TODAY

The shift to a new data tracking system from the state health department has caused lags and discrepancies in reporting deaths from COVID-19.

According to the state health department’s dashboard, as of Friday Morning, Greene County had reported just 25 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began here in March.

In reality, the death toll was 65.

That trend has extended to other jurisdictions as well. On Monday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services was under-reporting deaths statewide by about 11 percent, according to a News-Leader analysis.

But DHSS spokeswoman Lisa Cox assured people that the discrepancies aren’t part of a conspiracy to under-count deaths.

A screenshot of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Service’s dashboard shows the stat’s lagging reporting system for deaths.
